A universal basic income, free public transport for students and light rail systems for Cork and Galway are amongst the promises being made by the Green Party. In its manifesto being launched in Dublin, the Green Party is proposing fundamental changes in energy generation, transport policy, industry, land use, taxation, planning and housing. The Green Party believes the current system of social welfare payments should be reformed and is proposing a system of universal basic income through gradual reform of the tax and welfare system. The Greens also pledge to introduce measures to allow for the deep retrofitting of 75,000 houses per annum as recommended by the Climate Change Advisory Council. The party's manifesto says around 1 million Irish homes have oil fired central heating systems and the majority of these will be replaced heat pump or renewable alternatives over the next decade. In order to achieve this there will be apprenticeship programmes to train the 20,000 workers that will be needed. The party says one of its first tasks would be to work with the European Commission in the development of the National Energy and Climate Action Plan for 2030, so that Ireland can play its part in delivering on the commitments it has signed up to in the Paris Climate Agreement. No need to call a press conference. Their policies boil down to, if it moves and its outside Dublin tax it. Its that simple. Whatever about Cork but a light rail in Galway is a woeful idea And the ruination of rural Ireland, these people are extremists. The Green Party was part of government that signed up to unachievable 2020 targets for Ireland in 2009 of 20% reductions - the highest for any member state & wanted even more at the time. The EC has said since 7% wld hv been a cost effective target. Economically reckless!

Absolute joke of a party! To claim that a motorway between Limerick and Cork is unnecessary just proves how seriously out of touch these people are with the reality of everyday voters! Looons ... for us the maybe 2 million tax payers, we can’t afford your pie in the sky stuff, we are already skint paying for banks and FG vanity projects

Green Party manifesto. Unicorns to petrol the Dail. Candy floss traffic lights and free zero carbon salaries for all under 39s. Green is the new red Greens have some good ideas....More buses and public transport less wrapping and single use plastic ban...Save the corncrake and the bogs ...However reducing CO2 by 50% by 2030 is a bit mad...

Voting Green is naive. Voting Labour is silly. Voting Indo is pointless. Voting for the twin gods FFFG is feckless for a progressive. Shinners might just be the grenade then, if you'd pardon the pun. Politics here need to be shook. No palliative this time. Showboy done us in...

Green Party candidate David Healy confirms he voted no in the abortion referendum - Independent.ieGreen Party candidate David Healy has confirmed that he voted no in the repeal referendum. Greeners voters vote Yes to Congestion Charges, Carbon Tax, Water Charges! So what? He is entitled to any view he wants. Quick cancel him, how can he show such lack of progressive attitudes and still be green?

Unfortunately for them people have experience of them in government. The IMF, Troika, the debt and austerity. The green party is made up of globalist blind guides. They will wreck Ireland more. They will send u back to the 17th century & expect u to live & survive in that age. Dont vote Green party. Vote out FG & others who are responsible for Ireland's big mess. Greens are confused!!!

Great to see equality 3 to 1 there YangGang inspiring the Greens with UBI 😀 I am always sympathetic to the Greens but unfortunately the manifesto is very naive as there is no way of paying for most of these things. Until they follow Saoirse McHugh in ruling out FG/FF then I'll have to edge for Sinn Fein. They will still get a preference of course but history tells me they settle for a fraction of their manifesto

NationalPartyIE IrexitFreedom have my support despite the systematic attempt by the corrupt and biased media to blindside nationalist parties. The rest are EU puppets one way or the other. Don’t forget, people, that the Greens were part of the FF/PD/GP coalition that dropped us in the brown stuff and thanks to the FG/Lab shower after them the pain has still not relented. NONE of the above can be trusted to do the right thing. USE your precious votes wisely.

FF,the Party of Governance.
