It’s also believed that the government is thought to be considering mandatory quarantine for certain areas deemed “high risk” due to the presence of new variants. Government sources have said that introducing mandatory quarantine for people arriving without a negative PCR test would likely mean only a “small number” of people would be affected.
Foreign Affairs Minister Simon Coveney said today that there was “very strong compliance” with the PCR test requirements. He said the gardaí may follow up on the total number of 80 people who arrived recently since the new rules kicked in, he said. Government sources state that this figures for those not adhering is “very, very small”, with the majority, as shown in the numbers above, are adhering to the requirement of a negative PCR test.
Why is it only considered and why next week? How many more flights will arrive before it’s implemented?
And how many direct flights to we have arriving from Brazil & South Africa These people will all travel through Frankfurt/Amsterdam/London and there’s no way we can know where they originated from unless they willingly offer up that information.
How about stopping all but essential flights from countries with increased levels of covidvariant

BULLSHIT...everything in terms of our border security and airports to be 'considered' since last year. Flights from the Canary's coming into Dublin at 10pm last night via Aer Lingus. Passengers hardly quarantined on arrival I'd imagine. No will, no backbone, our govt are Lambs!
What part of freedom of movement don’t people. We have international treaties like the GFA with the UK (open borders) north/south. freedom of movement (EU) and finally we don’t live in a police state.
