I've only had a couple of days with the latest in the Google A series of smartphones - Pixel 8a - but I've been pleased with what I've found so far.
Pixel 8a cameras Google Pixel 8a features a dual rear camera system with a 64MP main lens with an 80-degreee field-of-view, f/1.89 aperture and a 13MP ultrawide lens with a 120-degree field-of-view and f/2.2 aperture. It also comes equipped with a 13MP front facing camera that has a 96.5-degree field-of-view and an f/2.2 aperture.
Pixel 8a performance As well as the clever AI making your smartphone photography the best it can be, Pixel 8a also boasts lots of other clever tech that combines to make Pixel 8 series one of the most fluid and fast Android experiences on a smartphone. You get the new Circle to Search feature too. This enables you to circle something on any screen and instantly search for it on Google. It's like a more intuitive Google Lens.
The handset comes with face unlock and a fingerprint sensor - both are fast and reliable when you need to unlock your phone in a hurry. You get WiFi 6e, Bluetooth 5.3 and NFC for contactless payments. And there is a built-in VPN so there's no need to pay for subscriptions to VPN services. Pixel 8a has car crash detection too so it can alert emergency services if you have an accident - hopefully a feature none of us will ever have to use.
