BRITISH SOCIALITE GHISLAINE Maxwell has been accused of playing a “critical role” in Jeffrey Epstein’s sexual abuse of underage girls, as investigators said they would welcome a statement from Prince Andrew in relation to the scandal.
Announcing the charges against Maxwell, Strauss said authorities would “welcome” a statement from the Duke of York in relation to the investigation. Andrew categorically denies he had any form of sexual contact or relationship with Giuffre, while his lawyers claim the duke has made three offers to give a witness statement to investigators.
“As alleged, Maxwell and Epstein had a method. Typically, they would befriend these young girls by asking them questions about their lives, pretending to be taking an interest in them.” When asked if she would be willing to hear evidence from Maxwell concerning others involved despite the perjury charges against her, Strauss said: “This sometimes happens when there are perjury charges and people can go on from there and become co-operators if that is what you are asking, so I’m not concerned about that.US attorney Lisa Bloom, who represents one of Ghislaine Maxwell’s accusers, said she and her client applauded the socialite’s “long overdue arrest”.
She oversaw and trained recruiters, developed recruiting plans and helped conceal the activity from law enforcement, the lawsuit alleged.It said that as early as 1994, Maxwell would “entice and groom” minor girls by asking them about their lives, their schools and their families.
