Garth Brooks is playing five sell-out shows at Croke Park, exactly 25 years after the Tulsa man rocked the famous stadium back in 1997. Here, he opens up about his bond with his fans, feeling grateful and what audiences can expect from his upcoming gigs.
You came to Dublin for a press conference back in April and when we met you it was so apparent how generous and kind you are. Is that a Garth thing or a Tulsa thing? I don’t know. My father was a marine in the Korean War and my mom was tougher than he was. They both drilled that into us. Look at what happened that day, everyone had travelled to be there just to do me a favour and to let my dream become theirs.
In an interview with CBS, you talked about the curse and the blessing. You said the curse is that you are not special and the blessing is that you are not special. But selling out Croke Park is pretty special. Four hundred thousand tickets is fricking incredible! I didn’t get that quote even close but I love the fact that he thinks that way and I think we all need to think that way.
