An Garda Siochana have released a family photo of Una Bowden, 47, and her two daughters Ciara, 14, and Saoirse, 9.The young family had officially moved into their new house in Galway with husband and dad David just a week before they lost their lives, reports the Irish Mirror.
The accident took place on the N17 just outside Claremorris, Co Mayo, when Mrs Bowden’s car was involved in a head-on collision with an articulated fuel lorry.Una's husband and Ciara and Saoirse's dad David was working in Africa as a project manager with the United Nations, while both he and Una also ran a safari business, providing tours of national parks in Zambia to tourists.
They were due to return at the weekend, ahead of a basketball tournament on Easter Monday in which the eldest girl, Ciara, was due to take part at under-14 level. The event has since been cancelled out of respect. “They were a beautiful family who had worked hard to build a beautiful home. They had such bright futures ahead of them. I just can't process it at all, and my prayers are with poor David,” said one local in Moycullen.
