Gardaí have renewed their warning to road users of the increased risk of being involved in a fatal or serious road traffic collision over bank holiday weekends.
With extra people expected to take to the roads over the coming days, gardaí have issued a reminder that bank holiday weekends are one of the busiest periods on Irish roads and periods where road users are at the highest risk of being involved in a fatal or serious road crash.The risk of a fatal or serious injury collision is highest between 3pm and 6pm during the Easter Bank Holiday weekend.
The garda enforcement operation this weekend is focusing on intoxicated driving, speeding, mobile phone use, distracted driving and seatbelt offences.
