A Garda motorcycle has been involved in a crash near the site hosting the National Ploughing Championship in Co Laois.

Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene on Wednesday morning after two vehicles collided on a rural road between Vicarstown and Stradbally.READ MORE:Taoiseach and Tanaiste reveal how they're saving on energy use as bills surgeThe road was busy with traffic heading to the Ploughing Championships in nearby Ratheniska at the time but it moved quickly as emergency services cleared the scene.

"One man aged in his 40s was conveyed to hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries sustained as a result of this incident.Meanwhile, a number of people have been taking to social media to complain about heavy traffic getting to the site each day. He said: "Absolute nightmare trying to get there. The designated traffic route from the west is certainly not fit for purpose and way off the standard of previous years sadly." he accompanied his tweet with #carparkinthemiddleonowhere.
