Gardaí continue efforts to contact immediate family of victims of horror crash

Gardaí were trying on Tuesday night to notify the family of a woman and two children that they died in a horror road crash in Co Mayo.

“The last one was in 2018, where three people lost their lives from Belmullet. To see it happen again today is just so sad for the families and everyone involved, from the people in the rescue services to the guards having to deal with this. It really is upsetting for everyone.” On Tuesday night, meanwhile, the new Fine Gael leader and soon-to-be Taoiseach Simon Harris spoke of a “devastating day for the people of Mayo" following the crash and a house fire which claimed the lives of a respected couple in Swinford."Thinking of the families and friends of the woman and two girls who have lost their lives in Castlegar and of Tom and Eileen Mahon, who died in a fire in Swinford.
