In the All-Ireland senior club football final, a player briefly remained on the pitch despite having been subbed.

Changing the rules on subs in GAA “makes sense” following the Kilmacud Crokes v Glen debacle, journalist Conan Doherty has said.

Kilmacud Crokes beat Glen last Sunday 1-09 1-11 but the result has been shrouded in controversy after it turned out that a player on the Dublin team had briefly remained on the pitch despite having been subbed.Under rule 6.44, the penalty for having more than 15 players on the pitch is either a fine, a replay or the opposing team wins by default.

“Regardless of the circumstance, I think people did largely accept that Kilmacud [won] - they were two points the better team. They deserved to be in that position with the last play. “Because we all know that if Glen go and win the replay, there’s always something hanging over that but that’s the scenario we’re in now because of a rule breach.”

Ban the gaa and make the farmers and lesbians build houses on the weekends

I never follow GAA, but if you have more players on the field that’s cheating and that should be penalised 🤷‍♂️

GAA order replay of All-Ireland Club final between Kilmacud Crokes and GlenGAA order replay of All-Ireland Club final between Kilmacud Crokes and Glen. Correct decision but going to be interesting how they squeeze it in with the inter County gamed in full flow. This could get very ugly if Crokes refuse to play. What would the GAA do then Would they take the cup off Crokes and hand Glen the title? It's also going to be very hard for both teams to psych themselves up to go again. If the GAA had sorted this the morning after the game. If it means so much to Glen,Crokes should let them have the cup. Wouldn’t concede to this farce. Can one just imagine the consequences of this ruling in the future.
