Further 337 Covid cases confirmed with 89 people in hospital and 34 in ICU

Meanwhile 89 people are currently in hospital with the virus 34 of which are in ICU.They come as details of the Government's ambitious Covid economic recovery plan were unveiled today.

Wage supports are set to be cut in the coming months however the plan will include grants and business incentives worth a total of €3.6billion. In attempts to kickstart some businesses again - and keep others afloat - the special 9% VAT rate for the tourism and hospitality sectors will stay in place until September 2022.

And the waiver of commercial rates from local authorities to help reduce business costs will keep going after its expiry date of the end of June, until at least the end of September. Taoiseach, Micheál Martin, announced that the PUP and EWSS will both be tapered off as the darker days of winter arrive.The €350 PUP rate cuts will be in €50 tranches, with the first kicking in from September 7, the next in mid-November and the last sometime in February.Meanwhile fears have been expressed that Ireland's reopening plan will have to be post poned
