During Covid-19, Róisín left her fast-paced job in the travel industry to venture out on her own and start a candle and reed diffuser making business

At the age of 56, Róisín Curran completely changed her career trajectory - what started out as a lockdown hobby has now turned into a thriving business.

In the following years, she went on a cruise, where she had an epiphany to write a book. It took her two years to finish the book, which was titled Mediterranean Menopause . “It takes a lot to write a book, I had to research, edit, there’s much more than you think,” Róisín says. Her partner Ciarán had given her a candle-making kit for Valentine’s Day that year. From the moment she made the first candle, Róisín was hooked. “I just fell in love with it. I kept buying more. I was obsessed.”

She then decided to dive headfirst into making a business out of her candles, and so, Senses by Ró was created.
