Justice Minister Helen McEntee will tomorrow ask Cabinet to approve her plan to add five more countries to the 'safe' list.
People from these countries still have the right to apply for protection in Ireland; however, they must be able to prove that their country is not safe for them due to their own personal circumstances. Should she get Cabinet approval for the plan, asylum seekers arriving from those countries will see their applications accelerated immediately.The Minister for Justice Helen McEntee, 21-04-2022.
