The Philippines has said a 44-year-old Chinese man had died of the new coronavirus, the first fatality from the growing outbreak to have died outside of China, where the epidemic started.
The first foreign fatality came as an increasing number of governments around the world closed their borders to people from China in a bid to stop it spreading. The United States and Australia lead a growing list of countries that are putting temporary but sweeping travel restrictions on Chinese nationals or those who have travelled to China within the last two weeks.
Similar expansive restrictions have been announced by countries including Italy, Singapore, and China's northern neighbour Mongolia.

First coronavirus death confirmed outside ChinaThe Philippines reported the first death outside of China from a new coronavirus, deepening global fears about an epidemic that has claimed more than 300 lives. why no mention of the potential CORONAVIRUS case taken to hospital from an incoming flight at Dublin Airport in the early hours of this morning and the 100's on board who were let go home with nothing more than a leaflet from the HSE? Surely news worthy, no? And our government still refuses to protect us and close the borders temporarily to people travelling from the effected region. Disgraceful.
