The final seats in the European elections are still unclear as counting continues in Ireland South and Midlands-North West

The final local elections seats were filled tonight following a number of tense recounts in Newbridge, Co Kildare.

Labour have 56 councillors , the Social Democrats have 35 , the Greens have 23 councillors , People Before Profit Solidarity have 13 and Aontú have 8 .READ MORE - Barry Andrews, Regina Doherty, Lynn Boylan and Aodhán O Riordain elected for Dublin in European Elections As of 8pm on Wednesday night in Ireland South, Fianna Fáil’s Billy Kelleher remains in second place. Independent Michael McNamara gained 6,690 votes following the elimination of Independent’s Eddie Punch. Kathleen Funchion of Sinn Féin fell back into fourth place, while Independents 4 Change MEP Mick Wallace surpassed Fianna Fáil’s Cynthia Ni Mhurchú who fell outside the top five for the first time since counting began.
