Fat Freddie Thompson’s former dad-in-law tried to get his case of theft thrown out of court – despite being convicted in his absence earlier this year.

Noel Dempsey, 66, was convicted at Swords District Court of the theft of two Canon printers and a PlayStation 4 from a Nightline van as the driver made a delivery.Read More : Woman pushed to ground and handbag robbed as brave witnesses tackle thief

However, Dempsey did not appear before Swords District Court on that date and was convicted in his absence.Yesterday, Dempsey, of Stanaway Road, Crumlin, Dublin, was before Swords District Court and instructed his solicitor to make an application to have the case struck out as the prosecuting garda was not in court.

Court presenter Sgt Darren Farrelly said he was not instructed in the case and requested a short remand for the prosecuting garda to be present.Fat Freddie – who was in a relationship with Dempsey’s daughter Vicky for almost 18 years before they split six years ago – is serving a life term for the Hutch-Kinahan feud murder of Daithi Douglas in 2016.
