Coronavirus Ireland: Family of popular Dublin taxi man who died of Covid-19 make plea to the public

The family of a popular Dublin taxi driver who sadly died of Covid-19 have called on the public to stay indoors and "help stop the spread of this cruel killer".

"He was a loving grandfather and a brilliant dad. He told us he wasn't afraid of dying - but if he did have a dying wish, it would be that his beloved Preston North End made it up to the Premiership. A notice on RIP.ie says: "Michael died of COVID-19. Let there be no mistake this disease is rancid and knows no boundaries or exceptions.Hundreds of wellwishers took to the site to pay their respects to the hugely popular "character" who was hailed by all who knew him as a "gentelman".

Derek and Jackie McGovern added: "We had the pleasure and good fortune to have worked with Mick when he was a taxi driver with Terenure Taxis. She is now unable to see her own family as she has to self isolate after being exposed to the highly contagious virus.
