Fair City’s Maria Oxley Boardman has been caught up in plenty of “juicy and exciting” storylines over the years — but there’s one kind in particular that stands out as a firm favourite.
And there’s another moment from last month that stands out to her — but for an entirely different, and much more “joyful” reason. Obviously, she’s someone who definitely gets herself into sticky situations as well, which is enjoyable in its own way. She said, “It’s the 33rd anniversary. I was here when the 30th anniversary happened as well, and it was just a huge excitement. There’s always a huge storyline that’s really exciting around anniversary weeks — and this one is no different.
“I love that you get to know the characters so well, they’re in your living room four times-a-week and they’re really relatable. You’re with them every step of the way on their mad journey through Carrigstown. And while becoming an actor was something that she had always had an interest in, it was an “unrealised dream for a long time”.
“And then as well, there were very few things open. So I think pharmacies provided a lot of services during that time for people, as well — from advice and chatting, that sort of thing, to medical care and medicines. “Those restrictions just feel like they were a very, very long time ago — even though they really weren’t.”
