Former Fair City star Seamus Moran says he isn’t recognised as much for his role in Carrigstown these days because he looks completely different. The character is best remembered for his relationships with Helen Doyle, her sister Yvonne and Geraldine Fahey. But his time in the fictional Dublin suburb came to a grisly end when he died by electrocution while trying to fix faulty electrics in the Bistro.
“It obviously doesn’t happen as much as compared to when you’re on the television involved in storylines and people are seeing you on their screens every night.”“I think it’s nice, I like it. You do a job, people appreciate it, and still can remember years later,” he told us.Seamus moved on from his character Mike quite quickly after playing him for 12 years, but still continued to watch Fair City. However, as the years go on, he knows less and less of the actors starring on the soap.
Seamus is still working as an actor these days, and is about to tour the country with Dolly and Mick, which he wrote himself. “She loves music, but then the tables turn and music becomes everything to him, which ultimately leads to a dilemma where she makes a decision he is not entirely happy about.”He said: “I wanted the songs to grow out of the characters' stories and the sentiments of country music lend themselves better to the feelings.
“Whereas if the audience doesn’t like a play I’m starring in, that’s different. But because I wrote this, if the audience isn’t getting into it, then I would start to worry.”Seamus added: “There have even been laughs in places I didn’t expect there to be, and people love the songs. I secretly hoped people would be tempted to sing along, and that has happened too.”
