It will be a Lewis Hamilton, Max Verstappen front row for Sunday's Styrian Grand Prix, after the reigning Formula 1 champion beat the field to pole position in a rain-affected qualifying session

Lewis Hamilton proved to the rain master at the Red Bull Ring, taking pole position on a soaking wet track in Austria.

The big surprise was Carlos Sainz who put his McLaren onto the second row of the grid, just ahead of Mercedes driver - and last week's race winner - Valtteri Bottas. Once the cars were out on track, it was Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton who set the fastest time of the first session which was ended 13 second early after Alfa Romeo’s Antonio Giovinazzi spun into the barriers at turn three.

The second 15-minute-long session saw a Ferrari fall to the wayside for the second successive week, only this time it was Charles Leclerc.
