Two former solicitors have appeared in court in Cork charged with conspiring to defraud a number of banking institutions

Ms Clarke, 37, a former Fine Gael local election candidate, is charged that between 1 January 2016 and 26 June 2018 she conspired with Keith Flynn to defraud AIB, Bank of Ireland, Ulster Bank and other financial institutions by creating false identities to be used for the purpose of obtaining credit dishonestly and with the effect of causing financial loss to those institutions.

Keith Flynn, 46, was also charged that between 1 January 2016 and 26 June 2018, he conspired with Lyndsey Clarke to defraud AIB, Bank of Ireland, Ulster Bank and other financial institutions by creating false identities to be used for the purpose of obtaining credit dishonestly and with the effect of causing financial loss to those institutions.

Judge Olann Kelleher was told by Sergeant Gearóid Davis that the Director of Public Prosecutions had directed in both cases that matters be sent forward for trial on indictment to Cork Circuit Criminal Court, or if the defendants so choose, that the cases could go forward on a signed plea of guilty. He told Judge Kelleher that Ms Clarke, who is a mother-of-two, is on a Back to Work scheme.
