Eurovision fans from Northern Ireland have been left seething in disappointment as Belfast was overlooked as a host city for the annual 2023 ceremony.

Earlier this morning, the shortlist for UK cities to host Eurovision 2023 was announced - with Birmingham, Leeds, and Manchester in the running.

The bidding process to select the host city for the competition back in July, which the BBC will manage alongside the EBU. Following the announcement of the seven UK city shortlist, unimpressed Eurovision fans flocked to Twitter to share their thoughts. "Bitterly disappointed that Belfast wasn't even shortlisted for the Eurovision 2023, don't even get a look in as always, surprise surprise. We'd have been the perfect hosts, we've done big events like the MTV Awards in the past, we could have easily hosted this #Eurovision2023," someone else pointed out.
