EU leaders, including Taoiseach Leo Varadkar, are likely to attach a serious condition to the request - that it will only be granted if the UK parliament ratifies the treaty

EU leaders are expected to grant the United Kingdom a short extension to the Brexit negotiation period at a summit in Brussels today, but only on the condition that the House of Commons ratifies the Withdrawal Agreement next week.

Britain is due to leave the EU in eight days time, Friday 29 June, and has so far failed to ratify the exit treaty. Having spent the best part of three years declaring that Britain would leave at the end of March, Mrs May now has to face the humiliation of seeking an extension because the House of Commons has rejected the Agreement twice.

Nevertheless a third rejection next week is still very possible. Donald Tusk, the President of the European Council who will chair the two-day summit, has suggested if that happens there could be another emergency summit right on the eve of the exit date.

Leo Varadkar is not an EU leader - he’s an EU follower.

No one wants it, leaving on 29th without a deal. May hasnt a prayer of getting anything through the commons and i highly doubt theyll get unanimous support from all member states.

Hopefully they leave soon🙏🏻 None of us deserve to listen to anymore of this drivel from the uk/NI🙉🙌🏻 Ironically Jean-Claude Juncker by not accommodating TMay may well in the long run be accommodating the UK. Resounding defeats of her solo run Deal show clearly that TMay is not the UK.
