EU energy proposals put Ireland's renewable programme 'at risk'

Following the Kremlin’s decision to invade Ukraine, countries across the bloc have tried to reduce their dependence on Russian fossil fuels. As a result, energy prices across Europe have soared and millions have been plunged into fuel poverty.

“And changing the rules as proposed by the EU sends the wrong signal and could discourage investment.“And I have to say, Ireland has enough obstacles to future generation investments with our dysfunctional planning system.”

If they were able to manage with the previous lower prices, I don’t see why they need huge profits, even if it is to invest in better infrastructure. They get huge grants from the government. You would think they would be reducing their prices voluntarily to help consumers

Whose concerns? Who is raising concerns? Exactly.

They only invest in renewables because they can’t loose, as its government / EU subsidised

So in other words for this is a reaity! people & familys who dont have alot & are struggling are expected to suffer more? That is the reality of what is being said here indirectly, we need to think of these people in our decssions! It is only right & fair. THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE.

Wind energy that produced just 2% of our energy needs in August ,we over 300 wind farms ,300xzero = Zero ,no back up plans will lead to power cuts in a severe winter

Could we not try finance it ourselves, and at least start to try secure the country's energy needs long term without being at the mercy of private interests. We've borrowed heavily to pay bank debt so at least with this we'd have something tangible to show for it.

Long planned investments can't really be having second thoughts because a price jump they never envisaged won't come to them. Give them a cap & a guaranteed floor and the numbers can work.

Those that benefit from investing in renewables don’t want to decouple the price of energy from gas because then they would have to sell their units for a lot less than they are now. They are making obscene profits while the cost of gas is out of control.

Is that their latest excuse to keep on robbing us via the climatescam
