Emergency group to meet over Storm Jorge flood risk

Met Éireann has said that rainfall amounts in February have already exceeded record levels in many part of the country.The warning is valid for Galway, Mayo, Clare and Kerry from 6am on Saturday until 3am on Sunday. Storm Jorge, named by the Spanish Meteorological Service, is the third "named" storm to hit Ireland during February, a month usually associated with one of the least amounts of rainfall. The forecaster says that Storm Jorge will bring even more very heavy rain, as well as gusts of up to 130km/h. Following updates from Met Éireann, the OPW, local authorities and other critical agencies, they have decided to convene a full meeting of the NECG, which will start at 11am this morning.
