Tory hardline Brexiteers are willing to crash out of the EU on October 31, regardless of the consequences for the British public and economy

The bizarre scenes witnessed in the House of Commons this week has brought home the stark reality that a hard Brexit could bring about in chaos in the UK.

Most supermarkets don’t have storage space and operate on a just-in-time basis with trucks bringing in goods as they are needed on a daily basis. If there is no deal, and the EU decides not to recognise the UK aviation security system, then passengers and their luggage will have to be re-screened when changing flights in EU hub airports.

The UK have proposed a range of tariffs on imports from EU countries, however, there are no plans to impose tariffs on goods moved from the Republic of Ireland to the North and then onwards to Britain. Last Wednesday the EU issued the following statement: “EU law will require that all goods entering Ireland from the United Kingdom be subject to the relevant checks and controls to protect the safety and health of EU citizens, preserve the integrity of the internal market and enforce compliance with fiscal obligations .

Under a pact struck between the UK and EU, “basic connectivity” will be “maintained” for a 12-month period if there’s No Deal.
