In any proper organisation, Marc Canham’s decision to do an interview with FAI TV about the ongoing managerial situation would have seen him pushed towards the exit door

A few weeks ago, I wrote about the FAI ’s hunt for a new manager. One of the things that puzzled me was the role being played by Packie Bonner.

Sorry, I got that wrong as well. There will be no bells and whistles. The announcement will be made on FAI TV, to attract an audience in the tens. The Luton Town manager has done a superb job against all the odds but the 5-1 home defeat to Brentford is a big blow.Edwards must be wishing that he could ring Marc Canham for advice. Canham the Great would sort it out for the Hatters. If anything sums up the bullshit industry of the modern game, then it’s the latter job title.

His old boss, Jonathan Hill, was another one who came through the bullshit industry and landed up here on another gig. Why did he not do a proper press conference? The FAI has been bailed out by the taxpayer to the tune of tens of millions.Does he not think, then, that he has an obligation to face questions about a farce that has made Irish soccer the laughing stock of Irish sport?

Paul is an accountant by trade and worked as a financial controller too. His background is in money and money is a big issue in where we are now.
