He danced in speedos with Kylie Minogue and toured the world with artists such as Beyonce and the Pussycat Dolls - but these days Arthur Gourounlian can be found on the sidelines at his local GAA club.
Gourounlian is an ambassador for the Kellogg’s GAA Cúl Camps, because the work being done this year resonates with him. After arriving in Belgium as a refugee, his dancing skills were noticed and he ended up performing on some of the biggest TV shows, and with some of the world’s most famous artists. “I’m coming from that department, I’ve seen that, and when I was that age, if I had those opportunities, I would have been so happy, you have no idea.“For kids with the language barrier, it’s very difficult. But sport, it’s universal. So you can go out there, have fun, play together and learn something new.
“I’ve been dancing all my life and I have worked every single muscle in my body. I even discovered muscles that I never knew existed,” he says. “I played football, volleyball and tennis, and lately I discovered paddle. I love sport. And dancing was always my main sport. “I remember one day we put on those watches and I burned 4,500 calories in two hours! Can you believe that? It’s such a big cardio workout. You keep moving.
