Former Ireland Under-21 manager Noel King was in charge of Dundalk for less than a month

Interim Dundalk manager Liam Burns has sent a heartfelt message to Noel King, whose 25-day reign came to an end over medical reasons.

With Head of Football Operations Brian Gartland let go last weekend, Burns took charge of Friday night’s 1-0 win over Shamrock Rovers.Afterwards, Burns was asked about the state of play as the club embarked on another managerial search - but straight away he addressed the departure of King. Burns added that the vacant Dundalk post should attract plenty of interest, but he ruled himself out of the job.

“When you see the crowd tonight and the atmosphere, as I said before, there should be a queue around the block trying to get this job. This is a wonderful job, a massive soccer town.
