Dublin archdiocese's financial report for 2021

Most of the costs of running diocesan offices are met by the second weekly Share collection. It dropped by 1 per cent in 2021 compared to 2020 figures but, when compared to pre-pandemic 2019 collections, it was down by 61 per cent.

A voluntary redundancy programme which ended in December 2020 resulted in 40 diocesan staff, or half the archdiocese’s employees, taking the package offered. As a result, staff costs in 2021 were down by €2.77 million to €2.6 million, from €5.4 million in 2020.

I think Ireland should copy Germany and bring in a church tax. It'll help the church but it will also more accurately show just how few 'Catholics' exist in Ireland. I recon a majority of people would rather label themselves as NOT catholic then pay tax to the church 🙂

Sickner for the decent priests and nuns but it’s about time churches were turned into rave venues and Montessori’s like I’ve always said.

If it's not paying, ' close it down'

If the Fathers acted as beings like us, possibly there'd have more people in the churches. As long as the priests in Ireland don't mingle and go out to those in need, they'd better find decent work to keep their accounts. I've never seen a priest meet an addict here in Ireland.
