Dublin defeated Galway to retain the Brendan Martin Cup for a third successive year as goals from Sinead Goldrick and Hannah O'Neill proved crucial in sealing a narrow 2-03 0-04 win.
Dublin's two-way power in transition proved key and Lauren Magee and Lyndsey Davey turned in woman of the match performances, while both defences held firm in testing conditions. Mairead Seoighe's yellow card proved key as the Galway sweeper was absent for the opening goal, Sinead Goldrick perhaps fortuitously lobbing Galway goalkeeper Lisa Murphy with an effort off her knee.Davey notched a point right from the throw-in to get Dublin going in the second half, before she and substitute Noelle Healy both had big roles to play in teeing up an easy fisted finish for O'Neill into an empty net.
And Dublin sealed the win with an Aherne score before Healy notched the point of the day from a deep charge.
