A baffled motorist took to social media to ask about the button, which shows a car on top of two squiggles with the word 'OFF' next to it and was quickly warned not to give into temptation

A driving whizz has sounded the alarm to car owners after they got confused over what a little-known button in their vehicles does. A curious driver took to Reddit to ask about a strange button in their car, with a car icon on top of two curved lines and "OFF" written next to it.

Introduced as a safety rule for all new cars since 2011, this feature helps you avoid skidding off the road. You may not have even known that your car has this traction control gadget but it makes your journeys much safer. However, car experts warn to be cautious before turning this feature off during normal drives as it could lead to expensive repairs. One expert, nicknamed Toyota Jeff, further explained on YouTube why switching off the traction control isn't always a great idea.
