Donald Trump has declared the United States will not pay the estimated £8m security bill for Meghan Markle and Prince Harry."It was reported that Harry and Meghan, who left the Kingdom, would reside permanently in Canada - the Mirror UK reports.
But after the couple has left their temporary home on Vancouver Island earlier this month no longer will they benefit from the Royal Mounted Police the Canadian taxpayer-funded while in the country. The cost paid for by the British taxpayer, includes the cover of officers pay, accommodation, travel and logistics in keeping the couple and their ten-month-old son Archie, safe.
Other officers are understood to be accommodated elsewhere on the island and had been staying in a waterfront hotel since the couple arrived in Canada in November. The spiralling costs to protect the couple and Archie has prompted senior Met Police officers to draft emergency plans to double their protection team.
After it was announced the couple would not be able to use the word “royal” to bolster their finances, they hit back with a statement.It read: “It is agreed that The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will continue to require effective security to protect them and their son.
