Donald Trump's 'toe-curling meltdown' details emerge after he missed important phone call

When Donald Trump sat down with Theresa May for the very first time, no one could have expected the boundary-shattering episode.

"It was our President in full blossom, full bloom. And a stream of consciousness that ran the gamut from his own inauguration to his disdain for the press in the United States." At that point, the Chief of Staff spoke up and said: "Mr President actually President Putin has called you but we're busy scheduling a return call."

"Honestly you could feel the tumbleweed just completely take over the entire lunch table and my toes were curling." "It was a unseemly moment in the early days of his administration so he changed the subject," explains Shannon. During a phone call, Trump told Hollande he had a lot of experience and knew the US well, so asked him for advice on putting together his White House team.

When Hollande was briefing his successor, Emmanuel Macron, he made it clear that he should "not expect anything" from Trump. "He held her hand going through the colonnades, which took us all by surprise and took Theresa by surprise," says Fiona McLeod Hill, former Downing Street Chief of Staff."And the first thing she said [afterwards] was 'I need to call Philip just to let him know that I’ve been holding hands with another man before it hits the media'."

While Gerrard Araud, French Ambassador to USA, claims Trump openly insulted Mrs May and German leader Angela Merkel. When Macron didn't reply, Trump reportedly said: "They are losers." Foreign leaders and those close to them share details of the first conversations and meetings they had with President Trump including French President Francois Hollande and Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull.
