Doireann Garrihy looking forward to not having to 'race home' after leaving RTE

Ex- RTE star Doireann Garrihy opens up about feeling excited she will have time to do whatever she wants after she quit co-hosting 2FM Breakfast.Opening up about her first week without having to get up early in the morning, Doireann said: "I had a mad week. This is my first week of my new life and new routine.

"But also things that I haven’t made time for in the past that I really want to try, like Pilates, like running...The 32-year-old said since she announced she was leaving radio, many fans have told her they are "excited" to see what she does next. Doireann invited her sister Ailbhe on as her first guest on this week’s episode of the Doireann and Friends podcast and the pair began talking about Doireann’s upcoming nuptials to fiancé Mark Mehigan.

"12 of your nearest and dearest, they’re all in, they were straight back saying ‘we’re in'," to which Doireann added: "Icons." She spoke with Tubridy about relationships, feeling pressure to get eight hours of sleep a night and learning empathy from Jacqueline Wilson novels. Tubridy’s new podcast revolves around guests talking about three book choices; a favourite childhood book, a book that changed their life and a book that made them cry.
