Doherty looks set to top poll in Donegal and Sinn Féin may get second seat

Fine Gael’s Joe McHugh is the second most popular candidate among those polled, with 17% of first-preference votes , and also looks likely to retain his seat. When Charlie McConalogue’s first preference vote in the poll is combined with Pat ‘the Cope’ Gallagher’s vote, the Fianna Fáil total in the constituency is 22% in Donegal, suggesting there is a seat for one or possibly both current TDs.

The opinion poll was carried out on Monday and Tuesday of this week – 550 people were surveyed and there is a margin of error of up to plus or minus four percentage points.

Without a shadow of doubt they have 2 seats in the bag. Doherty is on course to obtain the highest 1st preference vote in the election. His insatiable vote friendly will eat into Pat The cope, causing the cope into battle for final seat. How SF are not in leaders debates unreal.

They would gain hugely if they made him leader. Knows his portfolio inside out. Deals in facts, not spin. Could turn out to be a seriously good statesman.

Shouldn't be difficult for PearseDoherty to get a seat

Pearse Doherty’s work on insurance and other issues that highlight the rip off society cuts across party lines, he is needed in the Dail.

I can't see this being the case at all I think 2 seats for SF, 2 for independents (Thomas & John) and fight for the last. Definitely going to be interesting

I’d like to see Doherty as finance Minister. This should be a shake up election. Looks like The Irish times, the Irish independent and RTÉ all want a Grand coalition. Same old jobs for the boys.
