Other countries have put the welfare of citizens first and secured alternative vaccines

This St Patrick’s Day, the Taoiseach should ask US president Joe Biden for help. What about asking him for four million vaccines? In a sign of solidarity with its oldest ally and the homeland of more than 30 million Irish-Americans, the US could exercise its ample soft-power and help a friend in need.

Vaccines save lives, and saving citizens’ lives is the primary responsibility of any state. We can’t get our hands on enough vaccines via the EU’s centralised scheme, but we have the option to look elsewhere.

He can gone full idiot

Why not do it with Russia, apparently their vaccine is much better than the others and they are already without restrictions

They should do something David to get us out of this situation quicker and more efficiently

This government will not do deal with anybody but Europe

Problem is current worldwide shortage of vaccines. USA has 8.7% of population fully vaccinated so not likely to be giving them away. By time they can spare them there will be plentiful supply of vaccines and we will not have problem. NOVAVAX and J&J should be licensed next month

After Biden was elected one of my customers told me it's a very good news for Ireland. Asked him why? He said, Biden will be good for Ireland. He was surprised when I laughed of this. Now Biden has an occasion to prove I was wrong.

I agree, i said this some time ago.

This St Patrick's day the people of ireland should March, March all over this shit show, and March all over the corrupt government, and their dirty garda security

A stopped clock is said to be right twice a day and davidmcw is correct even less often, but this isn't the worst idea ever.

100%

Biden said he wants every American adult to get a jab by may, not a hope he's gonna risk that

yer gettin nothing off us 😂

Precisely, I said as much to Alan_Reporter Independent_ie Hanelizaa VirginMediaNews MDoyler IrishSunOnline We have fantastic ally in JoeBiden jomalleydillon SamanthaJPower so I hope my other good friend DanMulhall will be empowered to make that deal simoncoveney

Just get the best vaccine available right now and lets reopen in August 2021, not August 2022. This 'rollout' is a deathly shambles with people dying every day. HSELive sputnikvaccine

Eventually when this is over Irish media should take stock of their performance. Virtually no questioning of Government or HSE only in the last couple of days has there been any reporting on the lack of urgency in getting vacine out.

David McWilliams: Are Ireland’s relatively low Covid deaths due to emigration?Emigration to the UK in the 1950s and 1960s may have saved our fragile health service far more than lengthy lockdown Wait. Is it another reason to be thankful for 800 years of the common travel area? More bs. Why not just accept we acted quicker than the UK and did the lockdown better, thereby saving lives.

Have to say I find it unnecessary and needy.
