Danny O'Donoghue's secret tragedy that forced him to quit The Voice UK

He shot to fame as one of the original Voice UK coaches back in series one and quickly became a favourite among fans - but viewers were left shocked when The Script 's Danny O'Donoghue quit just two years later.

But just after winning the second series with his act Andrea Begley from Co Tyrone, he quit the show. He continued performing with his rock band The Script, who first found success in 2008 with a string of huge hits including We Cry, Breakeven and The Man Who Can't Be Moved. "I enjoyed my time as a judge and mentor and I think the misconception is that I got annoyed with it," he told the Daily Mail. "But when Mum had the aneurysm I had to retreat from the public eye because I knew I couldn't be a family man, look after The Script and be on a show as demanding as The Voice as well.
