A dad-of-two has been jailed for crashing a digger into the entrance of a Travelodge, causing £443,000 worth of damage.
During the rampage, Manley reportedly shouted 'all you had to do was pay me my £600, I told you, six hundred f***ing quid', the court heard today. He added that two workers stopped Manley's smashing spree by stopping the digger as he started driving towards parked cars, the Liverpool Echo reports. Speaking today, Mark Sharman, defending, accepted that to say the offence was “disproportionate to his grievance is perhaps blindingly obvious”.
He added that his client has now realised his actions will prevent him from seeing his son and daughter in the future. Manley said he commits criminal damage, which has has seven previous convictions for, when he cannot cope with his emotions or hears his mother's voice in his head, the court heard. He told the Liverpool Echo: "We are not condoning what he did at all; someone could have been seriously hurt and he's not a national hero like some people have been making out.
He deserves jail
