The number of patients with Covid-19 in hospitals has fallen below 400 for the first time this year. .
The National Public Health Emergency Team has said that there is sustained and "perhaps even accelerated progress in suppressing transmission of Covid-19". No further deaths were recorded, meaning the toll remains at 4,422. Speaking at last night's NPHET briefing, the Deputy Chief Medical Officer said that market research carried out for NPHET by Amárach shows compliance with the key public health measures remain very high.
Dr Ronan Glynn said: "While levels of anxiety and boredom are understandably high, it is encouraging to see that a sense of hope continues to rise across the population with 48% of people reporting that they feel the worst of the pandemic is behind us.
