Any negative impact of the lifting of restrictions under Phase 1 will be seen in the figures this week

Overall the latest figures on Covid-19 show a stabilising trend regarding the impact of infection here but the number of new cases has increased slightly in recent days.

One further death was reported yesterday bringing to 1,650 the number of patients that have died from Covid-19.The National Public Health Emergency Team will meet on Thursday to review the overall figures and will give a recommendation to Government on whether Ireland should move to Phase 2 of easing restrictions next Monday.

Could you explain this to me please? How is it possible to see figures this week? Does the long heatwave weekend with packed beaches or the protest parade yesterday ‘not count’?

So crowds I saw the last few days getting plastered, giant picnics in parks, crowded shops, zero distancing and a giant march in Dublin will change the figures this week? With symptoms... then test (no, really)... diagnosis, contact tracing (stop! You’re killing me!). This. Week.

What lockdown? Everything back to normal from what I seen protesting in Dublin yesterday

Only this week? So I go meet friends outside on May 19th, theoretically get virus, display symptoms on the 23rd, get tested on the 27th, don't find out till the 1st/2nd of June?

If the pockets of pharmaceutical companies that created the virus, weren't being filled by testing...thered be 0 cases reported every day, same number would have died and recovered.

Yes but it hasn’t really budged at all from this figure for quite awhile now it seems to be static there..... needs to start dropping now

We could have 0 every day by now, like Vietnam, but our incompetent government didn't close the borders and you're giving them a free pass despite the fact THEY STILL HAVEN'T. The disease should NEVER have spread here.
