The Department of Health has announced 13 more Covid-related deaths, bringing the total number of deaths to 2,608.A further 2,944 cases of the coronavirus have been confirmed, bringing the total number of cases in Ireland to 172,726.
"The levels of infection are such that your chances of transmitting or getting Covid-19 are very high, and we know that a proportion of those cases will lead to serious illness and mortality. There are 822 new cases of the virus, it takes the cumulative total of people who have tested positive to 95,361.The Minister for Health said the number of patients in ICU will peak in "the next week or two" and the situation in hospitals will get worse before it gets better.
"Nonetheless, the system is and will continue to be under very serious pressure for the next few weeks." Green Party leader Eamon Ryan has said that in hindsight the Government should not have eased restrictions over the Christmas period.

Today 13/26 counties with less than 50 cases. It will be interesting to see if merrionstreet would allow schools to open outside of Dublin when case numbers are low enough.
Every person in the country who has ever administered an injection should be tasked as a point of national emergency. Keep country in L5. For L5 to be lifted there must be a large amount of vaccines administered and x amount of low positive cases. Come on lads! this is possible!!

today I saw some people walking in a park only 1.9m apart from each other and 5.2km from home! I was outraged and told them it was their fault we were in this mess. Me and my 7 mates were so angry it was all we could discuss during our 50km drive home and continued over dinner
February 1st - all schools open. We must now continue with the junior and leaving certificate.
