The cost of accommodation throughout the International Protection Accommodation Service cost over €640 million in 2023.

The latest figures also show that the cost of accommodating an International Protection applicant in IPAs accommodation stands at €76.80 per night.Mr O’Gorman provided the figures in response to Sinn Féin TD Pauline Tully. In November, Mr O’Gorman confirmed to Independent TD Carol Nolan that the cost of IPAS accommodation in 2022 was €356.5 million. This means the cost increased by 80 per cent year on year.

Mr O’Gorman also stated that the average cost of accommodating an IP applicant in IPAS accommodation is currently €76.80 per night. This adds up to €28,032 per applicant over the course of a year.
