Covid-19: Ireland has a higher per capita death ratio than US, data shows

Other issues include demographics. For example, mortality tends to be higher in older populations. Characteristics of the healthcare system also play a role as mortality may rise as hospitals become overwhelmed and have fewer resources.

The United States, unsurprisingly, also has the highest death toll at 106,180. It is followed by the United Kingdom at 39,452, Italy at 33,530, and Brazil at 31,199.However, when measured by the case fatality ratio, the US rate of 5.8 per cent compares favourably with rates of 14.1 per cent in the UK and 14.4 per cent in Italy.

We let 1,400 people die based on FAKE NEWS!. that is criminal. Where is SimonHarrisTD and CMOIreland where is the Media NewstalkFM IvanYatesNT PatKennyNT Why are GP's not treating early today as soon as symptoms begin!!!. STOP THE DEATHS

IrexitFreedom Where in government statements do you see even mention of medication used in other parts of the world that is effective against a corona virus. I have not seen it. 100s of old people died who could have been saved. Was this deliberate? It seems so to me.

Not for long

IrexitFreedom Irish times you are the CANCER OF IRELAND. Your headlines are pathetic. STOP THE SCAMDEMIC.

Nooooooooooooooo

And yet the polls say FG done a good job ,go figure

Is it because our stats are true ?

Govt failed to prepare for emergency, they failed to close down airports and ports and allowed the virus enter the country,we should have very low number of positive cases and very low deaths, but incompetence is rewarded in Irish establishment institutions.

WTF is it you people do all day? Give me a job, I'd look like a clairvoyant compared to your reporters. This has been common knowledge for quite a while.

Are they at the same stage of the epidemic ?

Irish Slimes is a bit slow in catching up.

Only just realising this now?

Again what data are they collecting in the US on death rates.

IrexitFreedom Not what it says on worldometres

IrexitFreedom Why not compare ourselves to India, Turkey, Morocco, Algeria Why can't Ireland treat early like those countries? Why no leadership here from CMOIreland and SimonHarrisTD The guardian exposed the fraud that stopped the treatment of Hydroxychloroquine

IrexitFreedom This fella is praised by many for doing such a great job. He has failed badly.

The US has a had a huge surge in deaths from “ pneumonia.”

Ya right

Apples to apples, north to north: New York State have around 1500 deaths per million vs 330 for Ireland.

Lying , skunk.

You won’t hear that broadcast on RTE rtept rtenews

Imagine comparing Ireland with the USA.Pointless... Compare the EU with the USA. Or State by State. i.e. Ireland with New York State. You do not compare Dublin with The Naul.

This headline is misleading and excludes info on reporting standards of each country. By the way, I was in your building the day before Leo's first announcement and there was ZERO social distancing and the tiny lift was packed. The next week one of your employees tested positive.

Yes it does. But Ireland’s death rate is lower than New York,New Jersey, Mass,Rhide Island, Louisiana and will be lower than all USA by midnight tomorrow night. Not that that matters. As this is apples, pears and bananas. What matters now is to get and keep the rate down for good.

this data has existed from the beginning on the website Worldometer - maybe I should write an oped for an American newspaper telling Ireland I pity it

Well done Tony. Racing’s back.

This is an unfair comparison if you don't account for population density.

This is incredibly lazy and misleading reporting. You need to hire Care2much18 and he will put you straight.

and two-thirds of those deaths were in Nursing and Care homes because they were allotted to be expendable, and not worth the cost of medical care
