Just like in the Christmas film The Holiday, Sharon Holland has travelled to New York, Italy and Spain by exchanging her home homeexchange

The Deputy Principal says it has been a great and affordable way to see different parts of the world which has become a regular part of their lives. The Cork woman told RSVP Live: “We have been doing it for 13 years. Me and my husband started when were both secondary school teachers, we’re now both Deputy Principals.

Sharon says that even if the family won the EuroMillions they would still continue with home exchanges as she called it a “lifestyle” at this point. The family have planned to stay in California this summer with two properties already lined up for a home exchange.“One of the key benefits is that we like the connection we have with the people we’re exchanging with. We like forming that bond with them and getting to know them a little bit.

A benefit to home exchange, according to Sharon, is that there is much more flexibility to your holiday as you have supports set up in the area, whether it’s a family friend, neighbour or relative of the person you exchanged with.“You need to make sure that everybody in your family unit is comfortable with it, whether you have children, are in a relationship or are sharing a house with your sister.
