Respects are being paid after both Bridget and Denis Connolly passed away on Monday and Wednesday.
The couple lived in Little Island together and were in Oaklodge nursing home in Churchtown. This was where Bridget passed away on Monday before Denis died just two days after his long-time partner.They leave behind two children and five grandchildren. Denis, who had worked in the old Our Lady's Hospital and St Stephen's Hospital in Glanmire, was from Dunmanway, while Bridget grew up in Youghal.The couple will have a joint funeral Mass at the Sacred Heart Church in Glounthaune on Saturday at 11am, after which they will go together to their final resting place, in St Joseph's Cemetery.
Another heartfelt tribute read: "They were a part of our lives for many years when they always called to my mother to visit and indeed we had some great visits to their lovely home in Little Island. It’s sad to lose them both together but they were a great couple and now they will rest in peace together."
