Conor McGregor's dad Tony hospitalised after suffering heart attack

Conor McGregor's father Tony has been hospitalised after suffering a heart attack on Thursday morning but has provided a positive update.

Tony McGregor revealed he took ill earlier on Thursday and was taken to nearby Hermitage hospital and underwent surgery to place a stent following the arrest. And Tony struck a positive tone saying that he was treated to some sweet and sour chicken in the evening and appears to already be on the mend.

The Dubliner shared a photo from his hospital bed, saying: "Heart attack in the morning, stent in the afternoon, sweet sour chicken in the evening. See ya later suckers."The news will be an unanticipated setback for his son who is preparing for his upcoming UFC return against Michael Chandler. McGregor has been out of action for nearly three years but will return on June 29 and will no doubt be hoping his dad will be fit and healthy to make the journey to Las Vegas for the bout.

Former two-weight champion McGregor has kept a low profile as he gears up his training for his return and appears to be based at home for his fight camp this time round. The Crumlin native has previously gone abroad to Iceland for fight camps but looks set to stay in Dublin this time around.
