Michael Conlan believes Amy Broadhurst risks losing fans by switching to Team GB as she aims to chase her Olympic dream this summer.
But Conlan, who won a bronze medal at the 2012 London Games before his infamous controversial defeat to Vladimir Nikitin four years later in Rio, believes the decision could cost her support when she turns professional.READ MORE:Michael Conlan believes he is now managing the best prospect in Ireland "If her only goal in life is to be an Olympic champion, I get it, but if she wants to go pro, earn millions and be a world champion with a fantastic following from Ireland, she's done the wrong thing because Irish people aren't really going to back her for that reason."She's basically turned her back on Ireland. I get why, I understand why and if that is Amy's goal to be Olympic champion, it's understandable. Nothing else matters.
Conlan understands the tough situation the 27-year-old has been put in and believes she has a huge future in the sport. The 2022 World and European light welterweight champion is aiming to qualify for the 60kg category, the same weight class that Olympic gold medallist Harrington fights in.
