Taoiseach Leo Varadkar has indicated that the Citizens' Assembly on drugs will be established before the Dáil breaks for summer

TAOISEACH LEO VARADKAR has indicated that the Citizens’ Assembly on drugs will be established before the Dáil breaks for summer.

“We’re very keen to have it [Citizens' Assembly on drugs] up and running before the summer recess,” Varadkar said, in response to a question from Independent TD Violet-Anne Wynne. “I haven’t formed a view on it and obviously don’t want to, kind of, prejudice what the Citizens’ Assembly might come up with,” Varadkar said.He also told reporters that he had not used drugs since he became a national politician, having admitted to smoking cannabis in a 2010 interview.
