The nation has been painting the town red since Cork man Cillian Murphy landed himself the first ever Oscar awarded to an Irish-born actor at the 96th Academy Awards in Hollywood over the weekend.
RSVP Live writes that Cillian has one brother, Páidí, and two sisters Síle and Orla who have been largely kept out of the spotlight throughout Cillian's major successes on screen, but we do know a few bits and pieces about their lives too.Cillian was a musician before he ever set his sights on Hollywood stardom. In his late teens and early 20s, he was a guitarist with multiple bands alongside Páidí.
Reflecting on the decision, Cillian later said: "I'm very glad in retrospect that we didn't sign because you kind of sign away your life to a label and the whole of your music." Cillian previously revealed that both of his parents were teachers - his mother taught French while his father, Brendan, worked for the Department of Education.Despite the distinctive tradition of education throughout the family, Cillian admitted that the profession was not for him. He said: "I knew from an early age what a hard profession it is and how much dedication you need. I don’t think I ever had the vocation.
